    Wilderness Garbage & Recycling Service supports those helping others in our community…..please give consideration as to how you might be able to help the following organizations.

     

    CAN Cancer!

    Community Assistance for Neighbors with Cancer. CAN Cancer was established by Gil, Stu and Corinne Martinez of Wilderness Garbage in cooperation with the Central Oregon Haulers, a group of garbage and disposal companies including Bend Garbage & Recycling, Cascade Disposal, High Country Disposal, and Madras Sanitary Service.

    2010 CAN Cancer Campaign

    Once again, your Central Oregon garbage haulers have donated will
    be used to assist Central Oregon families with non-medical expenses..
    helping ease some of the financial pressures faced while fighting
    cancer. In 2009, CAN cancer raised over $13,000.00, touching
    families across the Central Oregon region. Look for the purple
    envelope in your garbage statement or visit, cancancer.org and donate
    online. Every dollar counts and CAN make a difference!

    College Scholarships

    Wilderness Garbage has college scholarships available for La Pine High School and Gilchrist High School seniors.

    To apply, contact your school counselor. La Pine High School will receive two-$500.00 scholarships and Gilchrist High will receive one-$1000.00 scholarship.

     

    The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

    The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic organization locally organized and staffed by people of all faiths who serve the poor. Through donations made to its thrift stores, sales support, cash contributions, and grants to its social services operations, the organization provides food, shelter, clothing, household items and financial assistance to the people in need throughout Central Oregon. The Thrift Store often has daily specials…also Second Monday of the Month is ½ price for seniors over 60..and ½ price for everyone on the last Thursday of each month Store hours are Mon-Sat, 10Am-4pm and is located at 51484 Morson St. Call 536-1956 for more information on shopping or how you can help. Donations can be made directly to the store or the St. Vincent de Paul truck is at Holy Trinity Church in Sunriver on Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.

     

    The La Pine Community Kitchen

    The La Pine Community Kitchen is located at 16480 Finley Butte Road , and is open Monday thru Friday from noon to 2pm. We serve hot lunches to anyone in the community . No one  is screened or turned away and no one is charged.  We also provide food boxes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 2pm. Again no one is screened or turned away. The Kitchen is operated by volunteers and donations, in partnership with COCAAN, Oregon Food Bank, La Pine St. Vincent de Paul, Sunriver Care and Share Program, local grocery stores, and area Churches. Call 536-1312 for more information.
